Düsseldorf Heerdt's Film Festival and Multiple Business Anniversary Celebrations
In the heart of Düsseldorf, the annual Heerdt Schützenfest took place, bringing together community, tradition, and celebration. This year marked significant milestones for several groups, including the Wildschützenkompanie, celebrating its 40th anniversary, and the Fidele Schützen, celebrating their centenary.
The parade, which typically follows the Rhineallee, took an unexpected turn this year, marching in the opposite direction. This change caused a bit of grumbling among the marksmen but added an element of surprise to the event.
Ingo Lüdorf, the new Schützenoberst of the Hehrster St. Sebastianen, led the regiment through the streets of the district for the first time, marking a new chapter in the Heerdt Schützenfest's history.
The St. Sebastianus Schützenverein of 1573 organised a grand parade with two battalions and around 250 marksmen. The procession was a spectacle that delighted several hundred spectators, including the distinguished guests. A serenade before the parade further added to the festive atmosphere.
Schützenqueen Annette von Canstein played a pivotal role in the event, helping to alleviate any confusion and bad mood during the parade. Her quick thinking, particularly in reversing the train order, ensured the parade ran smoothly.
The distinguished guests, who had previously complained about standing in wet grass during the parade, found solace this year as they experienced the highlight of the festival from the sidewalk and in the full sun.
The Heerdt Schützenfest concluded on Monday evening with a grand tattoo, a fitting end to a day filled with tradition and celebration. The Hubertus Society, which has existed since 1888, added a touch of nostalgia to the event, chauffeuring their seniors in a rickshaw during the parade.

It's worth noting that the entire Schützen board of the Heerdter Sebastianers has been renewed, marking a new era for the organisation. The 6. Grenadiere/Hankwieser Jonges are also celebrating their 90th anniversary this year, adding another layer of history to the festivities.
