Dusseldorf: Four vehicles, including a party bus, immobilized during a tuning inspection

Friday Night, 16th of June, Corneliusplatz: A Crackdown on the Street Racing Scene

Swing by Corneliusplatz last Friday evening, and you'd might've found yourself right smack in the middle of an adrenaline-fueled showdown - at least if you were traveling in the right (or should I say, wrong?) circles. The Düsseldorf police's "Tuning Task Force," along with a host of cross-jurisdictional deployment teams, set up a control station there, starting from 6 PM and carrying on through the small hours of Saturday.

Mobile deployment teams were on the move all across the city too, guiding any shifty-looking vehicles to the control point.

The tuning whizzes from the traffic service didn't exactly have a quiet night, but they sure as hell had some company. The Directorate of Danger Prevention and Deployment, the Criminal Police, and local Düsseldorf teams pitched in, ready to put the brakes on any potential mischief.

With a grand total of 107 vehicles scrutinized, five automobiles got themselves towed, and slapped with an expert evaluation. Out of those towed, two were pulled for danger-prevention reasons.

Now here's where things start to get interesting. Officers found an astounding seven individuals behind the wheel without valid driver's licenses. In one case, it was suspected that a crime was being committed under the Motor Vehicle Tax Act, while in another, there were allegations of document forgery. In the spirit of fairness (and to ensure everyone on the road is playing by the rules), the deployment teams wrote up a staggering 24 reports for administrative offenses due to tech faults and expired permits. And if that's not enough, they handed out no fewer than 36 warning fines. In two cases, license plates were relieved of their duties.

The cherry on top of this chaos sundae? A fire-engine red American school bus, all decked out and transformed into a party bus, rolled onto the scene. What's the issue, you might ask? Well, it had its fair share of defects - so much so that a similar bus got booted from a control back in October. And as you can imagine, the booked party-goers for Friday night had to hit the cancel button when the bus ended up getting impounded.

Now, before you get any funny ideas, let me set the record straight: there aren't any recent search results detailing a specific tuning control action at Corneliusplatz. But the general safety measures and police activities in Düsseldorf are waxing loud and clear - the boys (and girls) in blue are making their presence known and keeping the peace in the city.

On the evening of Friday, 16th of June, at Corneliusplatz, the 'Tuning Task Force' and cross-jurisdictional deployment teams held a control station, focusing not just on street racing but also crime-and-justice matters, as seven individuals were caught driving without valid licenses and cases of potential document forgery were detected. Simultaneously, the sports scene was marked by the impounding of a fire-engine red American school bus, transformed into a party bus, due tomultiple defects, serving as a reminder of the city's vigilant general-news and crime-prevention efforts.
