Düsseldorf EC concedes a point, Iserlohn Roosters secure victory through a penalty shootout triumph

In a thrilling encounter in the Sauerland region, the Düsseldorfer EG and Iserlohn Roosters locked horns in a closely contested match.

The game started with the Roosters taking an early lead at the 3 minute and 41 second mark. However, the DEG responded well and took control of the game for the next ten minutes, dominating play and creating numerous chances.

The final period began with a significant 117-second penalty kill for the DEG, starting at the 7-minute mark. Alec McCrea, Ryan McKiernan, and Brendan O'Donnell all tested Andreas Jenike in the Iserlohn net during this period. Jenike stood firm, making several crucial saves.

Shane Gersich had a penalty shot for Iserlohn, but it was brilliantly saved by Henrik Haukeland in the DEG goal. Jenike reciprocated with a great save on O'Donnell shortly after.

The seesaw battle continued after the penalty kill, with both teams creating scoring opportunities. Tyler Boland had a chance for Iserlohn, but Haukeland was equal to the task, making a save. Drake Rymsha and Borzecki both came close for the DEG, but couldn't find the back of the net.

The DEG managed to capitalise on a power play at the 33 minute and 50 second mark, with Paul Postma scoring the equaliser, assisted by Alex Ehl and O'Donnell. The game remained tied until the second intermission.

The third period saw both teams push for the winner, but neither could break the deadlock. The game eventually went into a shootout, where the Roosters emerged victorious, leaving the DEG with a 1:2 loss.

The next match for the DEG is against EHC Freiburg on Sunday, September 21, 2025, starting at 18:30. The game will take place in Freiburg. Despite the loss, the DEG will be looking to bounce back and secure a win in their upcoming encounter.
