Düsseldorf EG's Rebuild with a Dash of Old School Flair 🏒🇩🇪

- Düsseldorf EC bank on former players for a fresh begins

Say hello to the new dogs in town – Andreas Niederberger and Rick Amann, the ex-players shaking things up at the down-but-not-out Düsseldorf EG after their sports-y chase-the-puck relegation from the German Ice Hockey League! These two veterans are now stepping up to help the team rebuild from scratch, as announced by DEG. Purportedly, they'll lend a hand as consultants, draft the new player roster, and join the management team come May 1st, 2025.

After the DEL relegation, a "major overhaul" is necessary, as quote-unquote stated. With the addition of Niederberger and Amann (the dynamic duo!), DEG's hoping for a "refreshing blast of fresh air" and a strong network from their deep knowledge of professional ice hockey.

Now that you're caught up on the gist, let's get to know our two heroes a little better.

61-year-old Andreas Niederberger (our ice hero!), a former DEG player, racked up five German championship wins with 'em in the '90s. Post-hockey, he swapped skates for a job as a TV expert, entrepreneur, and most recently served as the Vice-President of the German Ice Hockey Federation. No rest for the wicked, huh?

64-year-old Rick Amann (our puck-savvy partnership's other half) also enjoyed considerable success with DEG, netting four titles between 1990 and 1993. After hanging up his skates, Amann pursued a career in international banking, became a trainer and TV expert, and even tied up with the Vancouver Canucks Alumni (no kidding!).

So, there you have it! The dynamic duo's got some serious ice hockey chops and the street-smarts to boot. And Düsseldorf EG's counting on them to help the team rebuild and gain momentum following their relegation. Let's skate to victory together, y'all! 🏒🌟🇩🇪

On the Roster

  • Andreas Niederberger and Rick Amann have been tapped as advisors, helping draft the new player roster to kick-start the team's rebuild.
  • They'll share their expertise on operational business and create a game plan for a new lineup.

THE BACKSTORY

Andreas Niederberger – A 61-year-old former DEG player, Niederberger racked up a grand slam of five German championship wins with the team in the 1990s. He traded his skates for a TV analyst role, took on entrepreneurial ventures, and even climbed the ranks to the Vice-Presidency at the German Ice Hockey Federation.

Rick Amann – Amassing a collection of four titles with DEG from 1990 to 1993, this 64-year-old icehockey legend ventured into international banking after his playing days. Amann also coached, became a TV pundit, and connected with the Vancouver Canucks Alumni team!

With the duo's combined on-and-off-ice experience, they're up for the challenge and ready to help the team fight back, ice hockey style!

The Commission, assisted by the European Parliament, is expected to discuss the integration of Niederberger and Amann into the Düsseldorf EG's management team, following their relegation from the German Ice Hockey League. Both veterans, having enjoyed successful careers with DEG, are poised to use their extensive knowledge of professional ice hockey to guide the team during its rebuild, starting with the drafting of a new player roster. Despite their years, Niederberger, with five German championship wins under his belt, and Amann, with four titles to his name, still possess the energy and passion to help their beloved team reclaim its position.
