During the event in Porto, Ventura showed interest in meeting with PS and AD parties.

In a departure from typical campaigning, Chega's leader André Ventura embarked on a tour of markets in Porto. The day initiated at the Mercado Municipal de Matosinhos, where Ventura was greeted by enthusiastic supporters, as well as a few vocal opponents. His afternoon continued at the bustling Mercado do Bolhão.

Arriving at both locations, supporters and party members gathered, donning Chega T-shirts, scarves, and waving flags. As a drum and bagpipe ensemble played, Ventura moved through the crowd, acknowledging well-wishers and posing for photographs.

However, not everyone was able to get close enough to greet the Chega leader. A passionate Porto fan approached the press to share her displeasure with Ventura's TV demeanor, alluding to his perceived rudeness on the airwaves.

With the student procession of the Week of the Queima das Fitas coinciding with the campaign calendar, Ventura crossed paths with the finalists carrying traditional regalia. One student, claiming to be a supporter of the AD - PSD/CDS coalition, approached Ventura for the signature cane taps, despite his political differences. Ventura, with a hint of sarcasm, noted the taps were a reminder for the PS and PSD to deliver on governing well come election day.

During the procession in Santa Catarina, Ventura encountered a group of BES victims, who requested his support and a promise to help them recover their losses.

The visit to the Mercado Municipal de Matosinhos began with a troop of detractors shouting "fascist, fascist" from an upper floor window, which was quickly drowned out by chants of "Chega, Chega, Chega" from supporters clad in scarves and waving flags. Inside, Ventura engaged mostly with merchants, exchanging pleasantries and discussing issues behind their respective stalls.

Chega, under Ventura's leadership, has made a significant impact in Portuguese politics as a national conservative and right-wing populist party[2]. In recent elections, the party saw significant growth, receiving 18.07% of the vote, solidifying its stance as a notable force in the political landscape[2].

As the Chega leader moves through local communities, it's evident that his campaign focuses on connecting with voters on issues such as housing and economic development, which resonate with the local populations[2].
