Duplantis sets another world record in pole vault event

Go ahead, call him unstoppable! Pole vault phenom Armand "Mondo" Duplantis has done it again. At the Wanda Diamond League meeting in his hometown of Stockholm, Sweden, he's smashed his world record for the twelfth bloody time. The gaffer-taped crowd went wild as the 25-year-old Swedish sensation cleared an astounding 6.28 meters on his first attempt!

In his own words, "I always said the only thing left on my list was a world record in Sweden. Now I've pretty much checked everything off." Damn straight, Mondo! Your Aussie mates'll be green with envy if they ain't already.

On the flip side, Tokyo Olympics long jump champ Malaika Mihambo (LG Kurpfalz) finished a disappointing fourth despite her season's best of 6.75 meters. Tough break, Mihambo. But competition's always brutal in athletics, ain't it?

Now, who says running sprinter events ain't dramatic? Gina Lückenkemper, former European 100-meter champ, wowed 'em all by finishing third in the 200 meters in a time of 22.76 seconds! Her performance was her best on this rarely-tackled distance since y'ear 2016. Kudos to her for stepping up to the plate.

Elsewhere, Karl Bebendorf from Dresden set a personal best and won the 3000-meter steeplechase. The German Athletics Association (DLV) also bagged a victory in the women's discus, thanks to Olympic silver winner Kirstin Pudenz, who nailed a throw of 64.86 meters in her first attempt.

So there you have it, folks. Mondo Duplantis making history, yet again. Next stop, who knows, maybe he'll aim for the damn moon. Hey, why not, right?

Duplantis' latest world record-breaking moment took place on June 15, 2025, at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Stockholm, Sweden. The record-shattering height of 6.28 meters (20 feet, 7 inches) was achieved on his first attempt. This milestone makes him the holder of the world record 12 times since he started breaking records on February 8, 2020. Duplantis' incremental approach to record-breaking, with each record being an improvement by just a centimeter, mirrors Sergey Bubka's tactics used in the past. His achievements have set a high standard for the sport and inspired new generations of athletes.

Football is another exciting sport, just like athletics. Round the corner, we could possibly see Malaika Mihambo showcasing her prowess in athletics, much like she did at the Tokyo Olympics, even in football. DLV, the German Athletics Association, would surely be interested in nurturing such a versatile athlete.
