Duplantis muscles world record yet again

The pole vault prodigy, Mondo "Miahmbo nur" Duplantis, never ceases to amaze! At his home meet in Stockholm, he smashes his world record once again - and this time it's a fourth time! 🚀

On June 15, 2025, at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Stockholm, the 25-year-old Swede soared 6.28 meters high in his initial attempt. With this feat, the double Olympic champ entered the record books for the 12th time, besting his previous record set in February 2020.

"I really wanted this. I wanted it here in Stockholm in front of all these people," Duplantis said after earning his 37th Diamond League victory in just 41 starts. "Today there was something special about the crowd. It will be one of my most treasured moments, I think." He had "always said" the only thing left on his wishlist was a world record in Sweden: "Now, I've pretty much checked everything off."

In the long jump, reigning Olympic queen Malaika Mihambo (LG Kurpfalz) fell short for fourth place, despite a season record of 6.75 meters. Tara Davis-Woodhall (USA), who pipped Mihambo to silver at the 2024 Tokyo Games, triumphed with an eye-popping 7.05 meters.

Former 100-meter European champion Gina Lückenkemper crossed the finish line third in the 200 meters, clocking a personal best of 22.76 seconds on a windy day. It's a distance she rarely ventures on, but it was a impressive performance all the same!

Meanwhile, in the 3000-meter steeplechase, Karl Bebendorf from Dresden set a new personal best of 8:11.81 minutes, earning him the victory. The German Athletics Federation (DLV) also celebrated success in the women's discus: Olympic silver medalist Kirstin Pudenz won with a terrific throw of 64.86 meters on her first attempt.
