Duplantis breaks world record in pole vault for an astounding 13th time, defying the laws of gravity once more.

Sweden's Mondo Duplantis made history at the Hungarian Grand Prix meeting in Budapest, setting a new world record in the pole vault discipline with a clearance of 6.29 metres.

The 25-year-old athlete, who is widely regarded as the greatest pole vaulter of all time, surpassed the previous world record set by Frenchman Renaud Lavillenie six years earlier. Duplantis' new record improved upon his previous world record by a small margin of one centimetre, continuing his pattern of breaking his own record incrementally.

Duplantis had a slightly off-form performance during the competition, but managed to succeed on his second attempt at the record-breaking height. His victory came after he first broke the world record in pole vault in 2020 in Poland, where he leaped to a height of 6.17 metres.

This marks Duplantis' 13th world record in the pole vault discipline, a testament to his dominance in the sport. The athlete has won the world championship twice and has been financially rewarded for his record-breaking marks by sponsors and World Athletics bonuses.

Duplantis' partner Desire Inglander and family were present to celebrate his second world title win in the same stadium in Budapest. However, Duplantis apologized for missing most of the press conference ahead of the Budapest meeting due to time management issues and expressed his intention to make up for his late arrival with a significant leap in the competition.

The Silesia Diamond League, where Duplantis also broke the world record last year, will be his next challenge. Despite his busy schedule, Duplantis expressed his love for Hungary and the crowd at the competition.
