Bundesliga Loanees Fabian Rieder and El Bilal Touré Return to Parent Clubs

VfB Stuttgart, the DFB Cup champions, will bid farewell to two loan players, Fabian Rieder and El Bilal Touré, as they return to their respective clubs, Stade Rennes and Atalanta Bergamo.

Swiss midfielder Rieder joined the club midway through the 2024-25 season. In his 21 games in the Bundesliga for Stuttgart, he scored once and provided four assists, with his standout performance against Young Boys Bern in the Champions League, where he registered three assists against his former club[1][2].

Sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth expressed gratitude for the immediate impact Rieder made. "Fabian quickly found his feet here and demonstrated his quality in 33 competitive games," he said, acknowledging Rieder's adaptation to Stuttgart's playstyle[1][2].

Ivory Coast international Touré's tenure at Stuttgart was hampered by a metatarsal injury, but he will be remembered for scoring the goal that gave Stuttgart their first Champions League win in 14 years against Juventus Turin[1][2]. Wohlgemuth labelled Touré an "important option in our attack."

As Rieder makes his return to France, there's anticipation that his experience in the Bundesliga and Champions League could assist Stade Rennes in retaining a place in their starting lineup[1]. Touré, meanwhile, heads back to Atalanta Bergamo, where he could work towards becoming a regular contributor in the team's Serie A campaign[2].

The Commission has not yet adopted a decision on whether sports regulations in Europe will allow Fabian Rieder to continue impacting games for Stade Rennes in the upcoming season, following his return from his loan spell at VfB Stuttgart.

Despite El Bilal Touré's return to Atalanta Bergamo, his memorable goal against Juventus Turin in the Champions League competition is still echoing across the European-leagues.
