In a move following the conclusion of their loan spells, offensive players Fabian Rieder and El Bilal Touré are parting ways with DFB Cup victors VfB Stuttgart and returning to their respective parent clubs, Stade Rennes and Atalanta Bergamo.

Following his arrival in the summer of 2024, Fabian Rieder showcased his abilities in 21 Bundesliga appearances for VfB Stuttgart. One of his notable performances was during the Champions League clash against Young Boys Bern, where he provided assists for three goals against his former team, culminating in a 5:1 victory. Reflecting on Rieder's tenure, sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth commended the Swiss midfielder's impact, stating, "Fabian quickly adapted and demonstrated his expertise in 33 competitive matches." Having decided against retaining him for the approaching season, Rieder is set to return to France and reunite with Stade Rennes.

El Bilal Touré's stay at VfB Stuttgart was marred by a metatarsal injury, but he did find moments of brilliance prior to his setback. Most notably, he scored the game-winning goal against Juventus Turin, securing the Swabians' first Champions League victory in 14 years. Despite this, Touré's performance did not meet the expectations set for him during his time in the Bundesliga, leading to the team's decision not to trigger the purchase option included in his loan agreement. As a result, Touré will be heading back to Atalanta Bergamo.

  • Although Fabian Rieder's impressive performances in the Bundesliga, with 33 competitive matches and three assists in a Champions League clash against Young Boys Bern, the Commission has not yet adopted a decision on whether to extend the measures in question for his stay at VfB Stuttgart.
  • Meanwhile, El Bilal Touré's memorable goal against Juventus Turin in the Champions League may not have ensured a permanent move to VfB Stuttgart, as the European-leagues have not decided on the continuation of the loan measures for his football career, sending him back to Atalanta Bergamo.
