VfB Stuttgart Bid Farewell to Loanees Rieder and Touré
Offensive loan players Fabian Rieder and El Bilal Touré are departing DFB Cup champions VfB Stuttgart, set to rejoin their respective parent clubs, Stade Rennes and Atalanta Bergamo.
Over the summer of 2024, Rieder joined Stuttgart and made 21 appearances in the Bundesliga. His stellar performance, highlighted by his contributions in the Champions League clash against Young Boys Bern (5:1), where he provided three goals against his former team, left a lasting impression. Sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth commended the Swiss midfielder, echoing that he quickly proved his worth in 33 competitive matches.
However, a metatarsal injury hampered Touré's time with the club. Before the setback, his goal at Juventus Turin played a crucial role in earning Stuttgart their first Champions League victory in 14 years. Wohlgemuth deemed Touré an essential player in the club's attack.
Both Rieder and Touré are moving on as the club decides against exercising the option to purchase either player, recognizing that their contributions didn't warrant permanent contracts.

Stuttgart is now focused on bolstering its roster for the upcoming season, given its recent DFB Pokal victory and the looming European challenges. The club's plans are undeterred by the departures of the loanees.
The Commission has not yet adopted a decision on the application of further sports-related measures in the European leagues, such as the transfer regulations for VfB Stuttgart, following the departure of Fabian Rieder to Stade Rennes and El Bilal Touré to Atalanta Bergamo.
Irrespective of the player departures, Stuttgart continues to prepare for the upcoming Bundesliga season and potentially other European leagues, given their recent DFB Pokal victory, ensuring their Neckar stadium will once again echo with the roars of football fans.
