The much-anticipated Tamil film, Kaantha, is set to release on September 12 this year. Directed by Samuthirakani, this gripping period dramatic thriller is a captivating exploration of the intense artistic rivalry and personal conflict between two key figures in the film industry.

The film's plot revolves around Chandran, an ambitious actor played by Dulquer Salmaan, and Ayya, a legendary director and writer portrayed by Samuthirakani. Their falling out originates from diverging creative visions during the making of a film originally titled Saantha. Ayya, who once mentored Chandran, wants to shoot a horror scene first and keep the film female-centric, while Chandran opposes this approach, pushing to prioritize scenes that favor his stardom and changing the film’s title from Saantha to Kaantha.

The production credits for Kaantha include cinematography by Dani Sanchez Lopaz and music by Jhanu Chanthar and Sivam. The music for the first single, titled 'Panimalare', has been composed by Jhanu Chanthar and Sivam, with lyrics penned by Kutti Revathi, Sivam, and Deepika Karthik Kumar. The song features the voices of Pradeep Kumar and Priyanka NK.

The lead roles in Kaantha are played by Dulquer Salmaan and Bhagyashri Borse. Tha. Ramalingam serves as the art director for the film, and Llewellyn Anthony Gonsalves is the editor.

The teaser for Kaantha, released in mid-2025, showcases the clash on set and highlights the mentor-mentee tension that ultimately turns sour. There appears to be a disagreement between the director and Dulquer Salmaan regarding the shooting sequence of certain scenes, with Dulquer Salmaan making changes to the film against Ayya's wishes.

Kaantha is a captivating portrayal of the collision of tradition and modernity in a changing India. The film is set in 1950s Madras and promises powerful performances, stunning visuals, and a captivating narrative that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
