Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh's Tour of Japan: Promoting UK-Japan Bond at EXPO 2025, Highlighting Their Supportive Roles

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh are set to embark on an official visit to Japan from Thursday, 18 September to Monday, 22 September 2025. This visit comes as a testament to the strong bilateral relations between the United Kingdom and Japan.

During their stay, the royal couple will celebrate the strength of UK-Japan relations and highlight the values both nations hold dear: innovation, resilience, and a shared determination to build a brighter future. The visit will take place in Osaka and Tokyo.

One of the highlights of the visit will be Their Royal Highnesses' attendance at EXPO 2025 in Osaka, Kansai. EXPO 2025, Japan's most significant international event of the decade, aims to unite people, cultures, and cutting-edge innovations from around the world to address some of humanity's greatest challenges.

The visit will include a wide range of engagements focusing on empowering youth, advancing sustainability and innovation, educating the next generation, and promoting women in leadership. The Duke and Duchess's presence at EXPO 2025 will underscore Britain's role as a leading voice for collaboration and forward-thinking solutions.

The visit marks another milestone in the enduring friendship and shared values between the UK and Japan. It follows the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's visit to Belize, Jamaica, and The Bahamas from March 19th to 26th, 2023, on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II for the Platinum Jubilee.

Currently, the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay (William and Kate) are visiting the Isles of Mull and Iona in Scotland, focusing on social connection and environmental stewardship. Meanwhile, the Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall have returned from their Autumn Tour in Jordan and Egypt, where they visited at the request of the British Government.
