Ducks recall rookie goalie Buteyets after Dostal’s injury shakes NHL lineup
The Anaheim Ducks have recalled goaltender Vyacheslav Buteyets from their AHL affiliate, the San Diego Gulls. The move follows an injury to starter Lukas Dostal, who has been placed on Injured Reserve. Buteyets, a 2022 draft pick, now gets his first NHL opportunity after a steady rise through the minor leagues.
Buteyets began this season with the ECHL’s Tulsa Oilers, posting strong numbers in seven games. He recorded a 4-3-0 record, a 2.81 goals-against average (GAA), and a .924 save percentage. His performance earned him a call-up to the Gulls, where he has since played in three games, going 1-2-0 with a 3.72 GAA and an .878 save percentage.
With Dostal sidelined, Buteyets now steps in as the Ducks’ backup option. His minor-league experience, including a strong ECHL start this season, provides a foundation for his NHL debut. The team will rely on his recent performances as he joins the roster.
