Dublin's 2026 running calendar revealed with iconic races and marathon ballot

Dublin's running calendar for 2026 has been announced, featuring some of Ireland's most popular races. The events include the Great Ireland Run, the Irish Runner series, and the Irish Life Dublin Marathon—one of Europe's largest city races. Registration for the marathon will open via a ballot system due to its high demand. The season kicks off with the Great Ireland Run / National 10K on 12 April 2026. This race, part of the Athletics Ireland Race Series, takes participants through Phoenix Park, passing landmarks like the President's residence and the Papal Cross.

The Irish Runner 5K follows on 16 May 2026, with the 10 Mile event scheduled for 19 July. A 5 Mile race will then take place on 21 June, rounding out the series. The highlight of the year is the Irish Life Dublin Marathon on 25 October. Known for its flat route, the race attracts runners chasing personal bests. The course winds through the city's historic centre and green parks, making it a scenic challenge for participants.

The 2026 races offer options for all levels, from 5K to marathon distances. The Dublin Marathon remains a standout event, drawing thousands of runners each year. Those interested in the marathon must enter the ballot system due to its popularity.
