Dubai’s ruler expands his Scottish Highland estate for royal family retreats
Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid al-Maktoum, Dubai's ruler, has won permission to build a five-bedroom home on his Scottish Highland estate. The new residence aims to accommodate visiting family and friends, with the Sheikh's son, Sheikh Hamdan, often using the palace. Meanwhile, the royal family frequently visits their Newmarket retreat during summer months to escape Dubai's scorching heat.
The Highland retreat, located on the shores of Loch Duich, boasts impressive facilities. It includes three helipads, a hunting lodge, a pool, and a gym. The Sheikh plans to enhance this estate further by expanding the helipads at his Warren Towers Palace in Newmarket, Suffolk. The organization behind this expansion is not publicly specified.
In addition to these upgrades, the Sheikh has plans for his Surrey estate. He intends to demolish his current palatial mansion and replace it with a larger structure featuring an indoor swimming pool, a 'games/party' room, gym, and office.
The Sheikh's expansion plans reflect his family's frequent use of these retreats. By upgrading his Scottish Highland estate and Surrey mansion, and expanding his Newmarket bolthole, he ensures comfortable accommodations for visiting family and friends, especially during Dubai's sweltering summer months when temperatures can soar to 50 degrees Celsius.
