Dubai Police's Esports Competition Is Back with a Prize Money of 200,000 United Arab Emirates Dirhams
The fifth edition of the Dubai Police Esports Tournament is set to take place from August 14 to 17, 2025, at the Dubai Police Officers Club in Al Jaddaf. This highly anticipated event will attract a large crowd of gaming enthusiasts, further solidifying Dubai's status as a regional hub for competitive esports.
The tournament will feature a prize pool of AED 200,000, distributed across multiple games such as Valorant, DOTA 2, EAFC 25 (singles), Counter Strike 2, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. More than 1,500 players from various nationalities, including international participants, are expected to participate.
The main objective of this edition is to raise awareness about safety in the gaming community, focusing on issues like online fraud, cybercrimes during gameplay, and privacy protection. Dubai Police encourages a balanced approach to gaming, emphasizing physical and mental well-being for players.
In addition to the competition, the event includes activities such as a Dubai Police Game Jam and a Capture The Flag contest to deepen engagement and education about cybercrime awareness and digital security practices. Participants will be informed about dedicated police services for reporting cybercrimes, including the "Ecrime" platform and the online awareness portal available at ecrimehub.gov.ae.
Major Abdullah Al Shehhi, Director of the Cybercrime Department at the General Department of Criminal Investigation, attended the press conference to reiterate Dubai Sports Council's support for the tournament and emphasize its role in engaging youth and protecting the community from cybercrime.
Professional players including Shaima Al Mansouri, Dr. Arshiya Farghath, and Lady Lillith were also present at the press conference, demonstrating the tournament's commitment to promoting gender diversity in esports.
Registration for the Dubai Police Esports Tournament is still open, with participants aged 10 to 35 invited to join, regardless of gender. The tournament underscores its inclusivity by welcoming gamers from all walks of life to come together and enjoy the thrill of competition while learning about the importance of cybersecurity.
The announcement was made during a press conference at the Cycling Hub in the Dubai Police Officers Club, with Mona Al Falasi, Director of Esports and Strategy at the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, and Rashid Mohammed Abdullah, Head of Events Planning and Execution at the Dubai Sports Council, also in attendance.
