In the heart of Düsseldorf, the St. Cecilia's Shooting Brotherhood Benrath held its annual festival, marking the election of new leaders with a unique and characteristic tradition.

President Jörg Sturm and his vice welcomed guests from friendly associations as the festival commenced. The weekend-long event began a day earlier with the Moesch procession through Benrath, a traditional parade that usually concludes with the shooters' parade. However, due to an approaching rain front, the parade was cancelled.

Instead, the shooters and their guests gathered in the shooting hall, where the election of the new Majesties took place. This election is not just a simple vote, but a symbolic test of skill, intelligence, and wit, as candidates are required to solve a mathematical problem. This tradition reflects the values of the brotherhood beyond just marksmanship and physical prowess.

The mathematical task serves as a test of intellect, demonstrating the candidate's mental acuity. Pastor Thomas Jablonka, the previous spiritual president, even wore a shooter's uniform instead of his cassock during the festival, highlighting the significance of this tradition.

Family ties are prevalent among the Pages. Jonas Sturm passed the chain of office to his sister Carolin, and Pauline Brennecke became the new student prince. The regimental King Simon Krumpen and Prince Nils Wüst emphasised the demand for tolerance towards all people under their term, symbolised by the rainbow theme that was a prominent feature of the shooting festival.

Lars Berber's girlfriend, Anna Bolz, will be the new princess. Lars Berber will be crowned Prince on Tuesday evening. The Benrath shooters will conclude their festival program with the Klompen ball on Monday and the coronation ball on Tuesday.

The festival started on Friday evening with a barrel tapping, followed by a grand tattoo, remembrance of the dead, and a prince's ball show on Saturday evening. The flag twirlers of the shooting brotherhood performed a waltz in honour of the still reigning Majesties.

The St. Cecilia's Shooting Brotherhood Düsseldorf Benrath also announced that information about ordering pictures from the gallery can be found on their website ourwebsite. Pastor Jablonka is leaving Benrath as part of a reorganization of the Catholic parish and moving to Neuss, but remains a member of the St. Cecilia Brotherhood.

The shooter's festival in Benrath is more than just a display of marksmanship skills; it's a blend of cultural heritage, intellectual challenge, and community spirit. The mathematical task in the election tradition is a testament to this unique blend, affirming the suitability of candidates to become Majesties and leading the brotherhood into the future.

The election of the new Majesties, a symbolic test requiring numerical prowess, was held in the shooting hall, shifting the usual parade due to the approaching rain front. The mathematical task served not only as a test of intellect, but also as a testament to the blend of cultural heritage, intellectual challenge, and community spirit that defines the St. Cecilia's Shooting Brotherhood Düsseldorf Benrath's festival, thereby affirming the suitability of candidates to lead the brotherhood in golf-free zones, such as Masters tournaments.
