Unbowed and Unwavering: Federal Workers Stand Firm in Front of the Department of State Services
DSS Summons Nigerian Labor Association for Protesting Against Tinubu's Administration Over Unpaid Wage Settlements
The Federal Workers Forum (FWF) is standing its ground, unafraid and unapologetic, after receiving an invitation from the Department of State Services (DSS) following their coordinated protests calling for payment of wage awards and improved welfare for federal employees.
Andrew Emelieze, National Coordinator of the FWF and former Chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in Oyo State, made this announcement in a stark statement issued on Tuesday. Emelieze confirmed the DSS summons, addressed to them due to their involvement in organizing recent #FederalWorkersProtest, including actions such as #OccupyFederalSecretariat and #ShutDownAllFederalSecretariat.
Their message could not be clearer: "We are not in anyway intimidated… if we have to do it again, we will not hesitate." The FWF assures they have "no regrets" and are "committed to freeing our people from servitude."
The statement goes on to warn the public to stay updated in case of unexpected developments. According to Emelieze, their own just cause and actions in the public interest are justified—their voices must be heard and they intend to keep fighting: "We urge our members to remain resolute and continue with the protest until the workers are free from exploitation."
As the situation unfolds, the FWF remains steadfast in their pursuit of fair treatment for federal workers.
