DSS Disputes Allegations of Kanu's Solitary Confinement

Ditching reports that claim otherwise, the DSS declares that Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is not kept in solitary confinement while he's in their custody.

In a recent court hearing, a DSS operative appeared as a witness and testified that solitary confinement isn't a method used by the DSS. This statement straight-up contradicts allegations made by Kanu's legal team arguing about his detention conditions.

The operative, going by the pseudonym PW-BBB, emphasized this at the Federal High Court in Abuja during cross-examination. Despite being quizzed by Kanu's lawyers, led by a former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Kanu Agabi, SAN, the operative remained firm that solitary confinement isn't prevalent in DSS practices.

Agabi voiced concerns over Kanu's prolonged detention and accused the DSS of subjecting him to solitary confinement. However, the witness denied such claims and reminded the court that his role is as an investigator, and he's not Kanu's handler.

When pressed about the legality of Kanu's detention, Agabi pointed out that it amounts to "cruel and inhuman treatment". Nevertheless, the witness could not testify on Kanu's psychological state as it's not part of his investigative duties.

Regarding the overall situation, recent statements from the DSS clarify that it isn't standard procedure to isolate detainees such as Nnamdi Kanu. Nevertheless, Kanu's legal team persistently questions the legality of his detention and continues to raise concerns over the allegations towards his detention conditions.
