Young lad's night out ends in tragedy at 11:11

Cologne (NRW) - While revelers were enjoying the festivities across the city, an unfortunate incident took place in Cologne-Nippes. On November 11th, the first night of carnival, a suburban train struck a 15-year-old boy, resulting in his tragic demise.

The tragedy unfolded at the Geldernstraße/Parkgürtel stop. Preliminary investigations suggested no direct connection between the festivities and the incident. The teenager wasn't in costume, and the stop isn't a traditional party hotspot.

An autopsy revealed that the boy had consumed alcohol before the accident, contributing to his fatal injuries, referred to as polytrauma.

Witnesses depicted the boy as initially unsteady on the platform, and the train driver confirmed his presence near the edge before stepping onto the tracks.

Investigators are currently unable to pinpoint the exact cause of the incident, as a ruled-out accident or suicide remains a possibility. The boy hailed from the Rhein-Erft district, leaving no concrete evidence of self-harm or involvement from a third party.
