Drunk driver of armored heavy transport on A9 - Drunk lorry driver caught transporting military armored vehicle on A9

A 59-year-old lorry driver was stopped on the A9 motorway near Marktschorgast after witnesses reported dangerous driving. Police discovered he was transporting a military armored vehicle while heavily intoxicated. His blood alcohol level measured more than twice the legal limit.

The incident occurred on a stretch of the A9 in the Kulmbach district. The driver, from northern Germany, had been on the road for around 45 minutes when concerned motorists alerted authorities. His erratic behavior prompted police to pull him over.

The case highlights the risks of impaired driving, particularly when handling specialized military equipment. The driver's arrest ensures he will no longer operate heavy vehicles until legal proceedings conclude. The Dachs tank was secured and removed from the motorway by alternative transport.
