Drunk Driver Escapes After His Reckless Stunt on Autobahn 5 Leaves Two Injured
On a chilly Sunday morning, a booze-fueled driver made a reckless move, causing a collision on the Autobahn 5 in Emmendingen district. According to the police, the intoxicated individual brazenly overtook another car between Herbolzheim and Riegel. This hasty maneuver led him to suddenly swerve back into the right-hand lane, ultimately slamming into the vehicle ahead of him.
The force of the impact sent both automobiles careening into the crash barrier, leaving the two occupants in the first car with injuries that demanded hospital attention. The unrepentant offender, however, didn't stick around to face the consequences of his actions. Instead, he bolted from the scene in his now battered vehicle.
A brief manhunt by the police resulted in the perpetrator's eventual capture in Herbolzheim. Upon inspection, it was evident that the driver had consumed a fair amount of alcohol, leading the authorities to obtain a blood sample. The accident itself caused an estimated €20,000 in damages.
