Drug Trafficking Queen, Admitting Guilt in Connection with Perry's Demise
News Article: "Ketamine Queen" Jasveen Sangha Pleads Guilty to Selling Fatal Dose of Ketamine to Matthew Perry
Jasveen Sangha, also known as the "Ketamine Queen," has agreed to plead guilty to five federal charges in connection with the death of actor Matthew Perry in October 2023. Sangha, a dual citizen of the US and the UK, is expected to face significant prison time for her role in the supply of the fatal dose of ketamine.
Sangha, 42, from the San Fernando Valley area, was the last of five people charged in connection with Perry's death to agree to a plea deal. She had been held in federal custody since her arrest in August 2024 and was scheduled for trial multiple times before agreeing to plead guilty shortly before her trial was set to begin in late August/September 2025.
The investigation revealed that the ketamine that caused Perry's death was sold to him by Sangha. Perry, who had a history of addiction to painkillers and alcohol, was found unresponsive in a jacuzzi at his Los Angeles home on October 28, 2023, and later died from acute effects of a ketamine overdose.
Sangha pleaded guilty to one count of maintaining a drug-involved premises, three counts of distributing ketamine, and one count of distribution of ketamine resulting in death or serious bodily injury. Other people involved, including doctors and Perry's personal assistant, have also pleaded guilty to related charges and cooperated with prosecutors.
Kenneth Iwamasa, Perry's live-in personal assistant, is mentioned in Sangha's plea agreement for selling 51 vials of ketamine to Iwamasa. Iwamasa repeatedly injected Perry with the ketamine that Sangha supplied, including on Oct. 28, 2023, when he administered at least three shots of Sangha's ketamine, which killed Perry.
Perry was taking ketamine as part of supervised therapy for depression, but became addicted to the substance. The charges against Sangha are in relation to the death of Matthew Perry. Sangha was found to possess methamphetamine, ketamine, ecstasy, cocaine, and counterfeit Xanax pills in her home.
Salvador Plasencia, a doctor, has already pleaded guilty to four counts of distribution of ketamine in the weeks before Perry's death. Plasencia allegedly bought ketamine from another doctor, Mark Chavez, and sold it to Matthew Perry at inflated prices. Chavez has admitted to conspiring to distribute ketamine to Perry.
The other individuals involved in the supply of drugs to Perry are expected to appear in court over the coming months. Sangha's attorney stated she is "taking responsibility for her actions."
In his 2022 memoir, Perry described going through detox dozens of times. Before his death, he had undergone a drug-related burst colon in 2018 and multiple surgeries.
