Drug dealer known as the "Ketamine Queen" faces trial in September, charged with supplying the fatal dose of ketamine to famous actor Matthew Perry.
In a high-profile case, Jasveen Sangha, known as the "Ketamine Queen," is set to stand trial in September 2025, accused of supplying the fatal dose of ketamine that led to the death of actor Matthew Perry.
Sangha, who is facing five counts of ketamine distribution, including one count of distribution resulting in death, has pleaded not guilty. She is described as a "celebrity drug dealer with high quality goods" among her customers.
The other defendants in the trial include Dr. Salvador Plasencia, Perry’s doctor who legally supplied him ketamine for depression treatment but pleaded guilty to four counts of ketamine distribution. Prosecutors allege that the ketamine purchased from Sangha included the doses that killed Perry. Plasencia, who is cooperating with prosecutors, is awaiting sentencing.
Perry’s personal assistant and a friend are also defendants in the case. They acted as middlemen in purchasing large quantities of ketamine from Sangha for Perry, including the 25 vials allegedly bought shortly before Perry’s death. They have pleaded guilty and are cooperating with prosecutors.
The case took a turn when Perry was found dead at his home on Oct. 23, 2023, at the age of 54. Sangha's trial was previously scheduled to start on August 19, 2023, but has been postponed for the fourth time. Her lawyers have requested a postponement to go through the evidence received from the prosecution and to finish their own investigation.
Sangha's trial is a significant event as it sheds light on the illegal distribution of ketamine, a powerful dissociative anaesthetic, and its potential consequences. The trial is expected to provide more insight into the events leading up to Perry's death and the roles of the individuals involved.
