Drones of Ukrainian origin reportedly brought down over Krasnodar Region on May 3rd.

Ukrainian Forces Ramp Up Drone Attacks on Russian Regions

In a series of escalating aerial assaults, Ukrainian forces launched a mass drone strike against various Russian regions during the night. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM, air defense systems successfully intercepted and destroyed a staggering 170 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

The Krasnodar region suffered the brunt of the attack, with 47 drones brought down. Crimea was the next hardest-hit region, with 96 drones neutralized. The Rostov region saw nine drones destroyed, while eight were shot down over the Bryansk and Kursk regions. Two drones were also downed over the Belgorod region.

Residential buildings and infrastructure in the coastal city of Novorossiysk were targeted, damaging three multi-story buildings and leaving four people injured, including two children. The city's public transportation was temporarily halted due to the threat of continuous drone attacks. In addition, drone debris damaged three reservoirs at a grain terminal and caused damage in the city-heroine.

Other civilian areas, such as Anapa, Stanitsa Tamany, and Yurovka, experienced damage to buildings and property. While direct reports of strikes on Anapa and Stanitsa Tamany (near occupied Crimea) were not found, recent intelligence indicates that Ukraine conducted its largest 2025 drone strike on Crimea during the night of May 2. This operation targeted Russian military infrastructure, destroying at least four radar systems and two S-300V launchers and significantly degrading air defense capabilities.

These strikes come amid Ukraine's rejection of Russia's proposed May 9 ceasefire, with Kyiv describing the gesture as a "theatrical" move in light of intensified Ukrainian efforts to disrupt Russian military logistics. Recent Russian drone attacks on Kyiv and Odesa (resulting in 7 deaths in Odesa on May 1) evoke a reciprocal escalation in the conflict. It is worth noting that no civilian casualties have been reported in the Crimea/Novorossiysk strikes, which focused solely on military targets.

Hold on tight for more updates on this ongoing conflict.
