Drones Dropped in Multiple Regions of Russia, Said to Be Eight in Total

In a series of incidents on September 17, 2021, at least eight Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were reportedly shot down by Russian air defenses. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the UAVs were intercepted and destroyed in multiple regions, including the Rostov, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kursk, and south of Moscow.

The specific type of UAVs involved in the incidents was not disclosed. The circumstances leading to their destruction were also not detailed. However, it is known that the on-duty air defense systems were responsible for the destruction of the UAVs.

This incident is not the first time that Ukrainian UAVs have been shot down near Russian borders. In a previous incident before Russia's large-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, at least eight Ukrainian UAVs were inconspicuously shot down by Russian air defenses while approaching targets near Moscow early in the morning, as reported by the Moscow mayor.

The location of the UAVs at the time of destruction was not specified in the latest incident. It is also unclear what the UAVs were doing near Russian borders.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported the incident, confirming that the UAVs were destroyed over Russian regions. The exact location of the destruction, whether it was in regions bordering Ukraine or further south, remains unclear.

This news serves as a reminder of the ongoing tensions between Russia and Ukraine, and the potential for escalation in the region. As more information becomes available, we will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates.
