Russian Military Conducts Artillery Exercises off the Coast of Novorossiysk

The Novorossiysk Naval Base in the Kuban hero city is set to host a series of military exercises in the Black Sea, off the coast of Novorossiysk, on September 18, 2022. The exercises, scheduled to last for two hours between 21:00 and 23:00, involve Russian military units and will include artillery fire from the piers of the military harbor.

According to a recent announcement made on a Telegram channel belonging to the Novorossiysk Emergency Situations Center, the exercises will take place in the port's waters of the Novorossiysk Naval Base. The exact nature and purpose of the exercises remain undisclosed, with no further details provided beyond them being regular exercises.

During the exercises, the exit to sea of all small vessels and watercraft, including those not subject to state registration, is prohibited. This includes pleasure boats, sports sailing, inflatable, and water sports equipment like jet skis, windsurfing, stand-up paddle boards, and similar crafts. Underwater works and diving activities are also forbidden during this period.

While no information about potential impacts on residents or guests was provided beyond the prohibition of small vessels and certain activities, the exercises align with reports of large-scale Russian military maneuvers and exercises during that period, involving tens of thousands of soldiers and extensive use of artillery and other weapons systems.

The exercises will see unmanned boats and aircraft-type drones being practiced against. The duty forces of the Novorossiysk Naval Base are preparing for these exercises, which are held regularly off Novorossiysk.

It is important to note that these exercises are part of the routine military activities in the region and should not cause undue concern for the general public. However, it is advised to follow the safety guidelines and restrictions issued by the local authorities during this period.

Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
