Drew Starkey Experiences Sizzling Summer
In an exclusive interview, Drew Starkey, currently filming the fifth and final season of the Netflix series Outer Banks in Charleston, South Carolina, shared his excitement about joining the YSL Beauty family as a new campaign star for their latest fragrance, MYSLF Absolu.
Starkey, who has been wearing YSL fragrance for the past 8-9 years, finds the scent to be a strong, immediate trigger of memories from his childhood. He mentions that the YSL fragrance evokes the scent of the first day of spring or autumn, which he believes is unmistakably bold, just like the fragrance itself.
The YSL Beauty campaign shoot took place in New York, where Starkey was joined by NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Starkey was chosen for the campaign due to his long-standing affinity for the brand and his belief that scent is the sense that triggers memory the most.
Starkey has been busy this summer, spending time with family, sharpening his music taste with David Bowie and Turnstile, and now, adding a new role to his repertoire. However, he is under Netflix NDAs and cannot share spoilers about the end of Outer Banks.
Despite the secrecy, Starkey finds filming in Charleston to be a happy place. He mentions that Charleston, South Carolina, feels like a second home to him. Starkey met the interviewer over dinner in New York last October, where he shared his enthusiasm for being part of the YSL Beauty campaign. He believes that the fragrance is like the last touch on his identity, sparking memories and reflecting a sense of home.
As for the upcoming fifth season of Outer Banks, Starkey revealed that it's the sixth year of filming, with the series due out in 2026. Fans can expect a thrilling conclusion to the popular series, but for now, they can look forward to Starkey's debut in the YSL Beauty campaign for MYSLF Absolu. Starkey is excited and fortunate to be part of this new venture, adding another milestone to his growing career.
