For the first time in their club's history, Dresdner SC's volleyball team has recruited Miku Akimoto, a top-tier Japanese player. The German Cup champions have successfully attracted Akimoto to the Elbe.

Miku Akimoto, a 18-year-old Japanese volleyball sensation, is set to make her mark in Germany as she joins Dresden's SC on a one-year loan from Victorina Himeji. This move marks a significant milestone in Akimoto's career, marking her first foray into European professional volleyball.

Standing at 183 cm tall, Akimoto is a formidable presence on the court, known for her impressive spike and block reach. She plays as an outside hitter (wing spiker) and is considered one of Japan's greatest volleyball talents. Her skill and potential have not gone unnoticed, with her selection for major international competitions such as the 2025 FIVB Women's Volleyball Nations League.

Akimoto has already made her mark on the international stage, having debuted with Japan's senior national team at the Volleyball Nations League this summer. She will also represent her country in the upcoming World Championship in Thailand. Her impressive performance earned her the title of top scorer at the U19 World Championship in 2023.

Alexander Waibl, the coach of Dresden's SC, is looking forward to working with Akimoto. This will be his first experience coaching a Japanese player, but he has a good relationship with Avital Selinger, the head coach at Victorina Himeji since 2023. Selinger facilitated Akimoto's transfer to Dresden's SC, making it possible for the young talent to gain international experience.

Akimoto is not only a talented player but also highly flexible in her play, having demonstrated her ability to excel in various positions in volleyball. She is a competitive player, always striving to improve and push herself to the limit. Her mother, Ai Akimoto, is a former Olympic bronze medallist in 2012 and World Championship bronze medallist in 2010, setting a high standard for her daughter to follow.

With Akimoto's addition to the team, Dresden's SC is well-prepared for the new season, according to team manager Alexander Waibl. The team's preparations are now complete, and fans can look forward to seeing Akimoto in action as she continues to develop her skills and make her mark on the European volleyball scene.

Akimoto, impressing with her skills in volleyball, will bring her competitive spirit and versatility to Dresden's SC, enhancing the team's performance in sports. Her arrival is expected to fuel excitement among fans, as she continues to chase her dream of achieving success on the European professional volleyball stage.
