Dresden Fire Department Battles Multiple Incidents on August 30, 2025

On a busy night in Dresden, the fire department responded to a series of incidents that tested their skills and resources.

The day's events began with a fire at a recycling company located on Maxener Straße, Lockwitz. The fire department initiated extinguishing with heavy foam and set up a stable water supply from a hydrant to a tank extinguishing vehicle. An excavator from the recycling company was also enlisted to help break up the burning pile.

Simultaneously, the fire department was called to Holbeinstraße, Johannstadt, where a smoke alarm in a high-rise apartment building had been beeping. Upon forced entry, smoke from burnt food and an unconscious person on a couch were found. Medical measures and a doctor were requested, and the affected apartment was ventilated with an electric fan. The injured person was transported to a hospital by the rescue services.

In another part of the city, at Kirchenweg, Mobschatz, the fire department was alerted to a burning car. The driver was in an ambulance receiving medical treatment, and crews fought the blaze with a quick-attack line and foam. "Fire out" was reported after a few minutes. Following the incident, the scene was handed over to the police for investigation of the cause.

The fire at the recycling company and the car fire were not the only incidents the Dresden Fire Department had to handle that night. They also performed 57 qualified patient transports and were called out to six fire incidents, with 14 deployments for technical assistance. Four false alarms were triggered by automatic fire alarm systems.

In the 24 hours leading up to these events, the emergency services of Dresden were alerted a total of 221 times, with 74 cases requiring a doctor's services. The Dresden Fire Department had multiple operations outside of the specifically mentioned events, including a car fire on August 30-31, 2025, at Kirchenweg, Mobschatz, and multiple technical and fire interventions in the same period totaling 4 fire and 12 technical assistance operations.

A total of 45 personnel from various fire and rescue stations were involved in the incidents.
