Dresden's historic Striezelmarkt, Germany's oldest Christmas market, is set to open its gates for the 591st time in two weeks. The festive event promises a delightful experience for all ages, with a host of activities and attractions.

The Striezelmarkt will run from November 26 to December 24, welcoming around 90,000 visitors daily. Children can enjoy making smoked candles and baking cookies, while everyone can indulge in traditional treats like mulled wine and candied almonds, priced at €4.50 to €5 and €4.50 per 100 grams respectively.

Public transport will be readily available, with tram lines 10 and 20 operating and free parking in the Ostragehege floodplain. The market's highlight, the Grand Mountain Parade, will take place on December 20, featuring over 500 participants in traditional mining costumes.

Visitors can explore over 200 stalls showcasing Saxon crafts, stollen bakeries, choir performances, and puppet theaters. The deposit for reusable cups and dishes has increased to five euros this year.

Dresden's transit authority expects around 730,000 daily passengers during Advent, with up to 20% more on Saturdays. The Striezelmarkt promises a magical experience for locals and tourists alike, celebrating the spirit of Christmas in Germany's oldest Christmas market.
