Dresden Ice Lions secure signing of Canadian ice hockey player, Lance Bouma.
The Dresden Ice Lions are diving headfirst into their inaugural season in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL), bolstering their squad with the addition of 35-year-old Canadian forward Lance Bouma. Leaving behind the Swedish top-tier club Linkoeping HC, this battle-hardened veteran has inked a one-year deal with the riverbank-hugging club.
A seasoned pro with over 700 games under his belt, Bouma boasts an impressive résumé that includes stints with the Calgary Flames and Chicago Blackhawks in the National Hockey League (NHL), as well as 190 games in the American Hockey League (AHL). Since 2019, he's been making waves in Europe, donning the jerseys of Oskarshamn, Linkoeping HC, Malmo in the Swedish SHL, and Geneva-Servette HC in the Swiss National League.
Matthias Roos, the Ice Lions' sports director, commends Bouma's tenacious style of play: "Lance is known for his grit, offensive instincts, and versatility. He's not afraid to take the hit, a trait that'll serve our team well. His extensive experience across North America and Europe, coupled with his unwavering dedication, will undeniably bolster our ranks. Lance assumes responsibility in any situation, making him an invaluable addition as he takes on a more offensive role this season."
After securing Slovakian goaltender Julius Hudacek, former NHL defenseman Justin Braun, and ex-Munich player Trevor Parkes, Bouma represents the fourth new signing for the Ice Lions. (dpa)
