He took a dip in European waters in 2019, competing in the SHL for Oskarshamm, Linköping HC, and Malmó, and the Swiss National League for Genf-Servette HC.

Sports director Matthias Roos of the Dresden Ice Lions had this to say about their latest recruit: "Lance is known for his sheer grit, relentless drive, quick wit, and his knack for being in all the right places. He's not shy about going toe-to-toe. With his experience from over 700 professional games in North America and Europe, along with his unwavering spirit and commitment, he'll be an asset to our team. He's a player who takes responsibility no matter the situation. With us, he'll be taking on a more offensive role than he's been playing recently in Sweden."

Bouma is the fourth new face on the Ice Lions roster since the team's entrance into the DEL. The squad has added Slovakian goalie Julius Hudacek, ex-NHL defenseman Justin Braun, and former Munich player Trevor Parkes to their ranks.

Now, for those of you who want a little behind-the-scenes insight... From his NHL days with the Calgary Flames and Chicago Blackhawks, Bouma accumulated 357 games, netting 26 goals, and dishing out 44 assists, totaling 70 points.
