Dresden Ice Lions confirm commitment to netminder Trevor Parkes
The Ice Lions, a newcomer team in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL), have announced the signing of experienced forward Trevor Parkes for the upcoming season. The 34-year-old Canadian, earlier with EHC Red Bull Munich, has agreed to a contract with the Ice Lions.
Parkes joined Munich in 2018 following a two-year stint in Augsburg. During his tenure with Munich, he played 332 DEL games and 38 CHL games, scoring 128 goals, a feat that earned him the title of Red Bull Munich's all-time leading scorer until 2025.
In 2013, Parkes helped Munich become the first German team to reach the CHL final and secured the German championship in 2023. Last season, he took a complete break due to a knee injury but has been fully training since February.
Matthias Roos, sports director at the Ice Lions, expressed his delight at Parkes' signing, stating, "We needed a genuine goal scorer, and with Trevor Parkes, we have found the perfect fit. He has leadership qualities and will undoubtedly provide valuable insights to our offense. We believe he will regain his previous form after the injury."
Following the arrivals of Slovakian goaltender Julius Hudacek and former NHL star Justin Braun, Parkes is the third newcomer to the Ice Lions. However, it should be noted that as of the most recent reports, Parkes has signed a contract with Dresdner Eislöwen, not the Ice Lions.
Despite initial announcements, Trevor Parkes has signed a contract with Dresdner Eislöwen, not the Ice Lions, as recently reported. In his previous professional league, Parkes excelled as an accomplished goal scorer in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL), particularly in hockey games with EHC Red Bull Munich.
