Dresden Ice Lions Part Ways with Coach Niklas Sundblad - Dresden Eagles fire coach and sports director after dismal DEL start

The Dresden Eagles have dismissed head coach Niklas Sundblad and sports director Matthias Roos due to a poor streak of results. The move comes after a heavy 6-1 home loss to the Iserlohn Roosters. Assistant coach Petteri Kilpivaara will now step in as interim head coach for the team's upcoming matches.

Sundblad had led the Eagles to the DEL2 title last season, securing promotion to Germany's top division. Despite recruiting experienced players, the team struggled to adjust to the higher level. After 23 games, they sit at the bottom of the DEL table with only three wins and nine points.

The Eagles face an uphill battle to avoid relegation after a challenging start to life in the top flight. Kilpivaara takes temporary charge as the club looks for a long-term solution. The next two matches will be crucial in determining their chances of survival.
