Dresden Braces for Two Days of Massive Travel Chaos in February 2026

Dresden will face major travel disruptions on February 13 and 14, 2026, as large demonstrations take place across the city. Roads, bridges, and public transport will all be affected, with closures and delays expected in key areas. Authorities are advising residents and visitors to plan ahead and avoid the city centre where possible.

The disruptions will begin on February 13 with two protest marches starting at 5 p.m. One will set off from Fritz-Foerster-Platz, while the other departs from Alaunplatz, both heading toward the city centre. Later that evening, at around 5:40 p.m., Wilsdruffer Straße will close for a human chain event. Short-term roadblocks and diversions in the Inner Old Town will continue until approximately 9:30 p.m.

On February 14, more extensive restrictions will be in place between noon and 6:30 p.m. The Inner Old Town, Wilsdruffer Vorstadt/Seevorstadt-West, Friedrichstadt, and the Inner New Town will all experience substantial disruptions. Marienbrücke and Augustusbrücke may close temporarily, along with parts of the northeastern inner-city ring road. Those travelling to Friedrichstadt Hospital should expect delays near Weißeritzstraße and Friedrichstraße.

Public transport will also be impacted, with detours and longer wait times likely. Passengers are being urged to check the DVB app or the transport authority's website for real-time updates. Drivers are strongly advised to avoid the city centre entirely on both days and seek alternative routes in advance.

The city's transport network will operate under heavy restrictions for two days. Residents, commuters, and visitors must prepare for delays and possible route changes. Official updates will remain the best source for the latest travel information.
