According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs' latest report on Tuesday evening, the initial estimate of 16 deaths has been revised down to 10, with more victims likely buried under the rubble. The revised figures are due to the initial confusion during rescue efforts, where parts of a body may have been mistakenly counted as separate fatalities.

Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko further confirmed that rescue operations are still ongoing to locate and save anyone still trapped.

Kyiv was struck by at least 27 targets across various districts, including residential buildings, educational institutions, and critical infrastructure. The city's Mayor, Vitali Klitschko, reported that out of the 114 injured, 68 were hospitalized.

Tragically, a 62-year-old US citizen lost their life in a building in the Solomyanskyi district due to shelling. Over 400 drones and 32 rockets rained down upon the city from three directions, igniting fires in several neighborhoods.

20-year-old student Alina Shchompel described the harrowing experience to the news agency AFP: "This was probably the most hellish night in our neighborhood." The Ukrainian energy company DTEK also reported that more than a thousand households were left without power as a result of the attacks.

President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that an entire residential block was destroyed, and rescue workers are working tirelessly to save those trapped. However, the exact number of people buried beneath the wreckage remains unknown.

Zelenskyy condemned the brutal assault as "one of the most horrendous attacks" on Kyiv, with "pure terrorism" inflicted by Russia. On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin showed no signs of letting up, continuing the war effort with seemingly no end in sight.

Later, speaking at a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the G7 summit in Canada, Zelensky stated the devastating attack exemplified the need for more support for Ukraine. "This is a great tragedy for us," he noted, "and we need the support of our allies."

Simultaneously, local authorities reported a single fatality each in the southern Ukrainian port city of Odessa, the southern region of Kherson, and the northern region of Sumy.

The Ministry of Defense in Moscow claimed that the Russian army only targeted military and industrial sites in the Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia regions, while intercepting and destroying 198 Ukrainian drones between Monday evening and Tuesday morning.

Andriy Yermak, the head of the Ukrainian presidential office, accused the "civilized world" of failing to adequately respond to Russia's ongoing war against civilians. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba went as far as to accuse Putin of orchestrating the attacks deliberately during the G7 summit to undermine the gathered leading industrial nations.

Efforts to establish a ceasefire in Ukraine have so far come to nothing, with Moscow rejecting corresponding demands and instead calling on Ukraine to concede large parts of its territory to Russia and abandon its ambitions to join NATO.

Regarding potential harsher sanctions against Russia, President Joe Biden previously noted that excessive sanctions could negatively impact the U.S. economy. Instead, he advised the Europeans to "take the lead" in this matter.
