Manchester United Set to Compete in Carabao Cup

Manchester United will return to the Carabao Cup after an 11-year absence, having qualified for the second round following their 15th-place Premier League finish and absence from European football. This marks the first time the Red Devils will compete in the tournament since 2014.

The club, which has won the Carabao Cup six times, most recently claimed victory in 2023, under the stewardship of former manager Erik ten Hag. United's rich history in English football competitions includes a joint-record 20 top-flight league titles, 13 FA Cups, and 6 League Cups (Carabao Cup).

Other Premier League clubs not participating in European competitions this season, such as Leeds United, Liverpool, and Chelsea, will also be in the Carabao Cup second round draw, with the exception of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, who enter in the third round due to their European commitments.

Meanwhile, several intriguing matches have been scheduled for the second round. Grimsby Town, managed by Ruben Amorim, will face Manchester United, providing a challenging encounter for the League Two side. Elsewhere, Fulham will host Bristol City, while Wrexham travel to Preston, and Norwich will take on Championship rivals Southampton.

The Carabao Cup holders, Newcastle United, will be aiming to defend their title after their 2-1 victory over Liverpool at Wembley last season. Other notable fixtures include West Ham's trip to Wolves, Sunderland, Huddersfield, or Leicester facing Bolton or Sheffield Wednesday, and Everton hosting Mansfield.

All Carabao Cup matches will take place during the week commencing August 25. With a strong history in the competition and a recent resurgence, Manchester United will be eager to make a deep run in the Carabao Cup this year.

Manchester United, a team with a rich history in English football competitions, including six League Cup victories, will be competing in the Carabao Cup this season, seeking to make a deep run after an 11-year absence and, possibly, adding another trophy to their sports accolades. Grimsby Town, on the other hand, will face a challenging encounter against Manchester United in the second round, presenting an intriguing clash between Premier League and League Two sides.
