10th grade KULT course students at Hugo-Junkers-Gymnasium are setting the stage ablaze with an innovative original production. Titled 'Snow White and Her Sister', this rendition of the classic Grimm brothers' tale is reimagined with novel perspectives, hearty doses of humor, and melodious expertise.

Dramatic Tale of Stage Performances by Hugo-Junkers High School

In the Fach Kult program of Mönchengladbach's very own Hugo-Junkers-Gymnasium, young thespians and minstrels get a taste of the captivating world of the stage. Talk about bragging rights, the showstopping troupe clinched the best ensemble performance award at the "Let's play 2025" youth culture festival sponsored by Theater Krefeld and Mönchengladbach, truly putting this traditional school on Brucknerallee on the map!

Mark those calendars! The official premiere is set to take place on Saturday, June 14th, at 7 PM, with an encore performance on Sunday, June 15th, at 3 PM. The stage will come alive in the school's auditorium on Gartenstraße, as the in-house scene is temporarily out of commission due to renovations.

The upcoming production, Snow White and her Sisters, is the brainchild of Stephan Merschieve, a teacher at "Hugo" and the fearless leader of this project. He's given the timeless tale a modern spin, peppering it with 15 traditional German folk songs, such as "The Steiger Song" and "The Lorelei". The tune-filled performances will have the spirited actors belting out the hits while accompanied by the school's very own orchestra, Die Big HUGs, a crew of 17 musicians led by music teacher Susanne Leitmann.

Stephan Merschieve gives us a sneak peek into the project, "We aimed to create a piece steeped in the heart of German fairy tale tradition, yet pulsating with life and surprises through music and innovative perspectives." His sentiments are echoed by Jessika Hergert, who brings Snow White to life with panache, "Playing Snow White in a whole new light – braver, bolder, more defiant – leaves me with goosebumps. Music just elevates it further!" Malone-Lasse Maßen, who charms as the king, shares, "'Snow White and her Sisters' serves as a reminder that true power lies within the power of self-reflection – and that's when we look beyond our own reflections."

Tickets cost 7 euros, with a reduced rate of 5 euros. Pick up your tickets during school breaks in the foyer of the Hugo-Junkers-Gymnasium or at the Gartenstraße box office.

As for the storyline, it might draw heavily from the classic fairy tale's themes of beauty, jealousy, and redemption but, remember, I'm just speculating. To get the authentic scoop, you'll want to reach out to the school or catch the performance for yourself!

"What will the upcoming production, Snow White and her Sisters, bring to the table?"

"This captivating show promises more than just entertainment, it offers a modern twist on the traditional German fairy tale, pulsating with life and surprises through music and innovative perspectives."
