Draft Grades for the 2025 NFL First-Round Selections
Drafting on the fly, let's take a gander at the initial round picks and slap some grades on 'em, shall we?
- Tennessee Titans: QB Cam Ward, MiamiAn' there it is - the Titans snag themselves the finest QB in the bunch, worth every penny of a first-round selection. Ward ain't as flashy as Caleb Williams or Travis Hunter, but he's just the tick to get this franchise outta mediocrity, pluggin' the NFL's most crucial position. Grade: A-
- Jacksonville Jaguars (via trade with Cleveland Browns): WR-CB Travis Hunter, ColoradoFirst-time GM, James Gladstone, fresh outta diapers at 34, ain't messin' 'round. Known for playin' the big game with Les Snead at the Rams, he's pullin' out all the stops for Hunter. No matter where he lands on the roster, the kid's a game-changer. Hunter's alleged chat with the Jags' offensive and defensive coordinators on draft night adds to the intrigue. Grade: A
- New York Giants: OLB Abdul Carter, Penn StateCarter's a relentless pass-rusher, livin' in the backfield. With Brian Burns on one side and Carter on the other, alongside NT Dexter Lawrence, the Giants are stackin' up a formidable D-line that'll give opposing QBs nightmares. Carter's their Micah Parsons, take it or leave it. Grade: A
- New England Patriots: OT Will Campbell, LSUPrototypes, schmprototype. Campbell's measurements leave some concerns, but he's agile, powerful - you name it! Perhaps a guard is his future, but for a fourth-round pick, the potential payoff is immense, especially with 2024 No. 3 pick Drake Maye in mind. Grade: B+
- Cleveland Browns (via trade with Jacksonville Jaguars): DT Mason Graham, MichiganGraham's a grinder, and with Myles Garrett on the edge, he's got what it takes to make a mark. Some thought they could've grabbed Ole Miss DT Walter Nolen or Oregon DT Derrick Harmon instead, but the Browns' refusal to roll over makes us intrigued, at the very least. Trade compensation with the Jaguars, including a future first-rounder, scent of a gamble, but we'll keep an eye on it. Grade: C+
- Las Vegas Raiders: RB Ashton Jeanty, Boise StateThe Raiders strike gold with Jeanty, their Marshawn Lynch reincarnate. With nothing at the RB position last season, they finished last in the league in rushing. Jeanty's addition is a boot-kickin', mouth-waterin' upgrade, just in time for the Pete Carroll show. Grade: A
