Trolling moves to the draft day chaos

Another aspiring NFL player fell prey to a massive prank call spree during Draft Day. The latest victim is Abdul Carter, who was reportedly tricked by a prankster when he was on the phone with the Jacksonville Jaguars for the second overall pick.

Carter ended up going one pick later to the New York Giants. His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, shared details about the prank as more odd incidents from the 2025 NFL Draft keep surfacing.

"It's disheartening that these private numbers are getting into the wrong hands, the ones making these prank calls," said Drew Rosenhaus, via ESPN. "Abdul and I were savvy enough to spot the bogus nature of the call and didn't even inform his family about it beforehand." Moments afterward, Carter received the genuine call from the Giants, his new team that took him with the third overall pick.

With Shedeur Sanders, Tyler Warren, and Mason Graham already victimized by draft-day hijinks, Abdul Carter is the newest addition to the list. Although Carter's experience wasn't as sinister as certain cases, like Shedeur Sanders or Isaiah Bond, who received a prank call only to be undrafted (for various reasons), it's still a scandal for a high-profile prospect like Carter.

Shedeur Sanders, from Colorado, garnered the most attention for his prank call incident, which was traced back to Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich's son, Jax Ulbrich[6].

Glimpses into the masterminded prank revealed that Jax Ulbrich obtained Sanders’ draft contact number from his father's unattended iPad and posed as Saints GM Mickey Loomis during the call[1]. As Sanders, who was eventually drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round, was hosting a livestream event, the historical prank transpired.
