Downtown Gütersloh transforms into a vibrant dance floor as DJs are celebrated.
On the night of September 16th, 2025, the fifth edition of the "DJs in Town" festival took place in the heart of Gütersloh, Germany. The event, organised by the City of Gütersloh's Cultural Affairs department, was a resounding success, attracting thousands of partygoers who came to enjoy a diverse lineup of music and a vibrant atmosphere.
The festival spanned two stages, with Berliner Platz and Town Hall Square playing host to the lively celebrations. As the sun set, revellers began to gather, eagerly anticipating the night ahead. The event kicked off at 6 PM and continued until midnight, providing ample opportunity for attendees to dance the night away.
Lena Jeckel, the project manager and head of the cultural department, expressed her relief and pride in the successful festival. She highlighted the role of "DJs in Town" in celebrating Gütersloh's vibrant cultural scene and its appeal to the city's youth.
The music played throughout the evening was a fusion of electronic sounds, house, charts, reggae, and club music. Notable participants included Simon Drosten of Wapelbeats, LUKE D, and the Whiteheads, as well as local and regional artists.
Mayor Matthias Trepper opened the event around 10 PM and announced its return next year. He emphasised that "DJs in Town" appeals to the city's youth and is peaceful, focusing on fun. His sentiments were echoed by DJ Mr. Jawbone, who expressed his delight about the event being organised for young people.
As the night progressed, the crowd showed their approval for the city's event calendar embracing the club music party. Even when it started raining around 10 PM, many partygoers continued dancing with their umbrellas, undeterred by the slight drizzle.
Gütersloh residents Liam, Nico, Ali, Gina, and Lina, who attend the event every year, appreciated the atmosphere. DJ Active (Denis, 22) performed at Berliner Platz and described the crowd as open, in a great mood, and energetic.
The "DJs in Town" festival in Gütersloh was a testament to the city's commitment to providing a diverse and exciting cultural calendar. As the night came to a close, Lena Jeckel, the project manager, could not help but feel proud of the successful festival and the positive impact it had on the city's youth and cultural scene.
