Downtown Gütersloh transforms into a bustling dance floor, celebrating the DJs and their rhythmic beats.
On a crisp autumn evening in Gütersloh, the city's Berliner and Town Hall Square transformed into a vibrant dance floor as the fifth edition of "DJs in Town" took place on September 16, 2025. Over two months of intense preparations culminated in an open-air disco event that attracted thousands of visitors.
Project manager Lena Jeckel was relieved and proud as she surveyed the sea of dancing bodies. "I'm absolutely thrilled to see so many people here," she said, "and to see the atmosphere. It's the best reward for my team."
The event featured 15 DJs performing across two stages. DJ Active (Denis, 22) took to the Berliner Platz stage, entertaining the crowd with his house and electro beats, while DJ Mr. Jawbone held the crowd captivated on Konrad-Adenauer-Platz. The lineup also included Simon Drosten from Wapelbeats, LUKE D, and the Whiteheads. The DJs played a variety of music, from electronic sounds and house to charts, reggae, and club music, ensuring there was something for everyone.
Mayor Matthias Trepper opened the event at 10 PM, expressing his gratitude for the event and its positive impact on the city's youth. He praised the event for appealing to the city's young crowd and thanked the crowd for a peaceful and enjoyable celebration. The audience cheered in agreement, solidifying "DJs in Town" as a beloved annual event in Gütersloh's calendar.
Even a brief rain shower around 10 PM couldn't dampen the spirits of the partygoers. Many guests danced under umbrellas, continuing to enjoy the music and the atmosphere. Liam, a Gütersloh resident, attended the event with friends Nico, Ali, Gina, and Lina. They stated that they come every year and appreciate the event's atmosphere.
As the clock struck midnight, the event came to an end, but the memories of the night will linger on. DJ Active expressed his satisfaction with the event, stating it was great to see so many people enjoying the music. DJ Mr. Jawbone echoed similar sentiments, expressing his satisfaction with the event and the fact that something is being done for young people.
With the success of this year's event, the organisers, the Department of Culture (Fachbereich Kultur) of the city of Gütersloh, have already announced the return of "DJs in Town" next year. Here's to another year of music, dancing, and good times in Gütersloh.
