Hit the pedals, mountain biking enthusiasts! British Cycling just dropped the 2025 Downhill calendar, and it's jam-packed with exhilarating events, including the return of Fort William – a fan-favorite spot. Here's the lowdown on the upcoming season.
All systems go for 2025Fort William will host the National Downhill Championships in July 2025, with Revolution Bike Park back on the scene after a brief hiatus due to tree felling. Revs reopened in the summer of 2024 as the larch felling helped combat a pesky disease. British Cycling's downhill schedule for next year features five adrenaline-pumping rounds spanning April to September. Fort William will make a grand double appearance – first for the UCI C1 round in May, and later for the national championships in July.
The Season LineupKick-starting the season in April will be Cwmcarn, followed by Fort William in May. The action then shifts back to Wales for the Rhyd-y-Felin round in June before hurtling towards Llangollen. The season finale takes place at Revolution Bike Park at the end of September.
Club and Team ShowdownThe 2025 series promises to introduce a series for BC-affiliated clubs and teams, aiming to crown a victor based on the collective performances of their strongest riders. More details about this and priority entry will be unveiled in the upcoming technical guides and event information. Entries will open in January, with a priority window for riders who accrued 150 national ranking points in 2024.
Ant Gill, British Cycling’s Head of Sport, shared his thoughts on the upcoming series: “The 2025 series is set to be one of our most competitive yet. We're stoked to showcase the UK's unparalleled downhill terrain and offer a platform for our talented riders to dominate on the national and international stage. Whether you’re a rider or a fan, this calendar is one you gotta check out!”
