Dovetail Games plans to introduce Train Sim World at our upcoming event, The Greatest Gathering.

In August 2025, the historic Litchurch Lane Site in Derby will play host to The Greatest Gathering, a celebration of the past, present, and future of railways. This event, part of the Railway 200 celebrations marking the bicentennial of the Stockton and Darlington Railway's opening, promises to be a spectacle with over 100 rolling stock exhibits and various activities[2][3][5].

British video game developer Dovetail Games will be a significant part of this grand event, showcasing their popular Train Sim World series[2][4][5]. The series, designed for train enthusiasts, offers interactive experiences, demonstrations, or promotions related to their latest developments, such as Train Sim World 5. By attending The Greatest Gathering, Dovetail Games will engage with railway enthusiasts and potentially introduce their simulation technology to a broader audience interested in both historical and modern trains.

Visitors to Dovetail Games' booths at the event will have the opportunity to play Train Sim World on two consoles and a converted professional train driver training simulator[6]. The line-up of train classes expected at The Greatest Gathering, as they appear in the video game, will be playable at their stand[7]. These include the Avanti West Coast Class 390 Pendolino, Class 350, Derby-built Class 142 Pacer, Class 43 HST, Class 87, Class 52 Western, LMS Jubilee Class, Class 33, Class 323, and another Class 390 Pendolino[8].

Moreover, the Class 390 Pendolino, built by Dovetail Games, is one of the trains attending The Greatest Gathering[9]. The event will also feature more than 50 iconic vehicles from the past, present, and future of the railways[2].

In addition to the entertainment, The Greatest Gathering will also serve as a platform for inspiring the next generation of railway innovators. The STEM Hub, designed to be immersive and interactive, will focus on inspiring the next generation of science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM) leaders[10]. Dovetail Games will appear in the event's STEM Hub with two booths hosting their flagship series Train Sim World[11].

The presence of Dovetail Games at The Greatest Gathering's STEM Hub adds a dynamic, interactive dimension to the event[12]. This is the first time in almost 50 years that the rolling stock factory at Derby Litchurch Lane Works will be open to the general public[4].

So, whether you're a train enthusiast or looking to inspire the next generation, The Greatest Gathering promises to be an unforgettable experience. Mark your calendars for Friday 1 to Sunday 3 August and get ready to immerse yourself in the world of railways.

At The Greatest Gathering, visitors can not only marvel at over 100 rolling stock exhibits but also play popular train simulation games like Train Sim World on various platforms, including consoles and a converted professional train driver training simulator. Furthermore, the upcoming Train Sim World 5, designed by Dovetail Games, will likely be showcased at the event.

Besides experiencing the thrill of virtual train journeys, The Greatest Gathering also aims to inspire the next generation of railway innovators. As part of this initiative, Dovetail Games will be present in the event's STEM Hub, offering interactive experiences with their Train Sim World series.
