Ole Miss Quarterback Austin Simmons Doubtful for Tulane Game Due to Ankle Injury

In a surprising turn of events, it appears that Ole Miss Rebels quarterback Austin Simmons might miss out on a significant role in the upcoming game against Tulane due to an aggravated ankle injury.

Simmons sustained the injury during his relief appearance against the Razorbacks. Initially, there was optimism about his availability for the Tulane game, but recent reports suggest otherwise.

Despite the setback, head coach Lane Kiffin remains hopeful, stating that Simmons could potentially be available in an emergency role. If Simmons is unable to play, Miller Moss, who has started a game before, would be the emergency quarterback for the Rebels.

In Simmons' absence, Trinidad Chambliss is expected to start as quarterback for Ole Miss. Chambliss, a senior transfer from Division II Ferris State, made his first start for the Rebels in the game against Arkansas, where he completed 21 of 29 passes for 353 yards, one TD, and no picks. He also rushed 15 times for 62 yards and two scores.

The Ole Miss Rebels, currently ranked 13th and boasting a record of 3-0, will face Tulane in Oxford, Miss. Tulane also has a record of 3-0, making for an exciting matchup.

Lane Kiffin has not yet announced a decision on who will start as quarterback for Ole Miss in the game against Tulane. However, he has expressed his anticipation for Austin Simmons to be the starting quarterback if he is fit to play.

Chambliss' impressive performance against Arkansas has given the Rebels a glimmer of hope. Regardless of who starts, the Rebels will be looking to continue their winning streak against Tulane. The game promises to be an exciting one, with both teams in top form.
