Double dream shattered in the 7th DM finale for TV Pforzheim

In a historic moment for German rugby, TV Pforzheim emerged victorious as the first-ever German rugby champions in the Deutsche Meisterschaft (DM) final of 20XX, held at the SC Neuenheim sports ground.

The Rhinos, TV Pforzheim's sevens team, had already demonstrated their dominance in the league phase, securing decisive wins against RGH II (21-0), TSV Handschuhsheim (54-0), and RC Rottweil (36-0).

The DM final, however, proved to be a more challenging encounter. Facing the reigning 7s rugby champion, RG Heidelberg, TV Pforzheim started the match with a 5-0 lead against RG Heidelberg, thanks to tries from Ken Chrzanowski and David Hecht, both of whom were fielded from the second team.

Despite RG Heidelberg's strong team, boasting many German national players, TVP coach John Willis remained optimistic. The former coach of TV Pforzheim, who had also prepared the team for the DM tournament under the guidance of Mustafa Güngör, a former 7s national team captain, was confident in his team's potential.

The match was a closely contested affair, with RG Heidelberg eventually securing a 31-10 victory. However, it was Tafadzwa Chitokwindo who scored the winning try for TV Pforzheim, securing their place in the annals of German rugby history.

This triumph has given TVP team manager Jens Poff renewed confidence in the club's future, with plans to continue nurturing young German talents within the team.
