Double crest detected at DEG location
In a significant move for DEG Eishockey GmbH, Harald Wirtz has been appointed to take over the management of the company with immediate effect. Wirtz, a native Düsseldorf resident and a passionate DEG fan, will lead the club into the future, focusing on the commercial side of the business.
Peter Hoberg, co-owner of DEG Eishockey GmbH, has emphasised the importance of further developing the processes and structures initiated for the club to compete at the highest level off the ice. Wirtz's appointment is part of this effort, as he will be responsible for the day-to-day business and help shape the future direction of the club.
Wirtz's return to DEG Eishockey GmbH comes after a brief stint as Geschäftsführer (managing director) of the company, which he resigned from in 2025. Prior to this, Wirtz was a former premium partner with Wirtz Medical.
Stefan Adam, who took over the management of DEG Eishockey GmbH in the summer of 2016, has significantly driven the positive development of the club over the past four years. However, Adam and the shareholders have decided to part ways, effective in the future.
Niki Mondt has been appointed as sports director of DEG Eishockey GmbH with immediate effect, responsible for the sporting side. Daniel Völkel, another shareholder, believes Mondt is the right complement for the new dual leadership. Mondt has done good work for DEG Eishockey GmbH in recent years and has been entrusted with the sole responsibility for the sporting area at the club in the future.
Harald Wirtz will provide new impetus, especially in the areas of sponsorship and hospitality at DEG Eishockey GmbH. He will also be responsible for further developing the existing structures at the club and for the external communication of DEG Eishockey GmbH. Wirtz is aware of the challenge of leading DEG Eishockey GmbH but is confident in his ability to drive the club forward.
The DEG Eishockey GmbH aims to further develop the concepts already in place, with Wirtz's focus on the commercial side and Mondt's expertise in the sporting area. Wirtz will hold talks with many parties to further develop the networks at the club, ensuring its continued success in the competitive world of ice hockey.
