Dortmund’s Tatort team is preparing for a major change as actress Stefanie Reinsperger leaves the series by choice. Her departure means Chief Inspector Peter Faber, played by Jörg Hartmann, will tackle crimes without his longtime partner, Commissioner Rosa Herzog. The upcoming episode, Blood and Water, marks the start of this new chapter.

The Blood and Water episode will be directed by Luzie Loose and filmed in Dortmund from February 17 to March 18, 2026. This instalment introduces Mario Schmitt as the new partner for Jörg Hartmann’s character, replacing Reinsperger’s Rosa Herzog. The shift follows her decision to exit the long-running crime series.

The Blood and Water episode will premiere with a fresh dynamic, as Hartmann’s Chief Inspector Faber adapts to a new partner. Chico’s cameo adds an unusual twist, blending fan enthusiasm with the show’s established format. Filming begins early next year, with the episode expected to air as part of Tatort’s regular schedule.
